Recipes from July 19th to 23rd

We've started the week with some very refreshing drinks. The iced green tea made with real green tea and no sugar is different from the iced tea we can buy at the supermarket because it's good for you!

The iced earl grey tea taste a bit like the popular brand of iced tea but you are in control of the amount of sugar you add in it!

The rhubarb lemonade is an intersting way of using rhubarb. Rhubarb is perfect for jam and pie, so imagine the taste of this special lemonade!

On Thurday, it was still a recipe of something you can drink but not like the other ones. It was milk... not real milk, sesame milk! Ideal for the cereals, in other recipes, etc. It can be used the same way you use regular milk or soy milk.

Finally, on Friday, something you can eat! The mexican style salad! This salad looks like a taco in a bowl!

Yummy!

Mexican Style Salad

This Mexican Style Salad is a bit like a vegetarian taco in a bowl! It's healthy, veggie and yummy!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup lettuce, chopped
  • 3/4 cup kidney beans, cooked
  • 1/3 cup salsa
  • 1/4 cup corn chips, crushed
  • 1/4 cup mayo

In a bowl, mix the lettuce, the kidney beans, the salsa and the mayo. Add the corn chips on the top just before serving.

In you want to make an homemade vege mayo, mix half of a silk tofu bloc, 2 tbs olive oil, 2 ts Dijon mustard and a little bit of lemon juice. Add salt and pepper.

Sesame Milk

I found this recipe on this web site: http://pigut.mintyway.com/ . I was surprised to see that we could make our own milk from nuts at home. I knew about soy milk, rice milk and almond milk but I thought it was a really complicated process. It's not!

Rhubarb Lemonade

I did not invent or modify this recipe. This is the original recipe from the tag of the Serbi Rhubarb from the grocery store! It is really tasty and it's an original way to use rhubarb!

Iced Earl Grey Tea

Another iced tea recipe... Because it's warm outside and it's important to stay hydrated! I've tried to make iced tea with earl grey tea because of the citrus aroma of this tea. With the lemon juice, it's half way between lemonade and iced tea!

Iced Green Tea

The first time I had Iced green tea was at Communitea Cafe, downtown Canmore, Alberta. I totally felt in love with that refreshing and healthy drink.

Recipes from July 11 to July 16

So, this is the end of the week! This week, I went for some classical (to me) recipes from childhood. Some that were perfect for the really warm weather we have at the moment, the cauliflower salad and the green beans salad.

And some others that are perfect for the cold weather: tofu Bourguignon and vegetarian sauerkraut.

Finally, I gave you 2 dessert recipes (good 365-days!): the strawberry pie and the butter caramel's square.

I hope you enjoyed them!

Next recipe will be on Monday!
